Hey- Whenever i run world of warcraft, and i am in a large city, or highly populated area, my computer seems to crash. My moniter will just shut off, and i will have to turn off my computer manually. I updated my drivers and everything, and my temp is not raising on my CPU. I also noticed that it happens when i play counter-strike source. here are my specs. can anyone help, this is really bugging me.
AMD 64-bit 3200+
ABIT KV-8 Mother board
1gig (2X 512meg) Geil RAM
ATI Radeon 9800pro 128meg
120gig WD HD
450W power supply

Have you tried disabling sound/music on those games and see if the problem lies in the sound drivers?

There should be an error log in your C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft\Errors, provided if you used the default installation path, post your log here to help us better assess your problem.

Hi there I have exactly the same problem. Nonstop freezing of computer - not just in IF but in dungeons and other locations. I have Windows XP PRO SP2 - AMD Athlon 64 3000+ 1.8ghz - 1gig of Corsair ram - Radeon X800 PRO. There are 2 files in my Errors folder. But they are previous crashes. The problem is - the computer has NO CHANCE to create an error log because computer freezes. Pure lock-up - only solution is to press the restart button. I have the latest (9/21) drivers for my Radeon and Epox 9NPA nforce 4 motherboard drivers from CD (There are NONE on their website - so I sent a ticket to see if they have updated drivers for the mobo). I am really discouraged at the moment and hope to see some light at the end of this lock-up tunnel. By the way - to those thinking that this might be an overheating problem. I have 5 fans inside the computer and running WoW on lowest settings (resolution and AA) did not solve the crashing. My computer runs HL2 with full AA flawlessly and Rome: TW and a dozen other games have no problems on best graphics. Help!
Loofy
P.S. Forgot to mention I have a 500 W power supply.
P.S.S. I have DX 9.0c

Hi!
"The latest drivers" is'nt a guarantee, not to get lockups and freezing, using the latest Radeons or Geforce cards. You may have to test a lot of drivers. Both new and older, before you find one that makes it.
Also use a driver cleaner, between driver installations. "Driver cleaner pro v. 1.2 is a good one.
You can find both drivers and driver cleaner here:
http://downloads.guru3d.com/
Also try the modified cathalyst drivers. Sometimes they are better than the orginal ones.

Maybe you guys can help me, I'm totally stumped. World of Warcraft used to crash alot before I upgraded, my card was a Geforce FX 5200. It had no fan on it so I thought it was from overheating. Here is what my pc has.
Windows XP Home
AMD Athlon XP 2400+
Geforce 6600.
16x DVD-RW
DVD Rom
Seagate 400 gig HD
1 Gig of RAM
I did a full reinstall of Windows when I installed my 400 gig HD, and it runs beautiful with Half-Life 2, The Sims 2, and Guild Wars (all at Highest Possible Quality), just to name a few of the games I've tested. I can play them for hours, and no problems. Same before I upgraded. All games ran fine, just not on highest quality. Well anyways, I sent a tech support email to Blizzard, they asked for DxDiag settings, and my MSInfo. That was 2 days ago or so, still no word back. Ok on to my actual problem. I can be at the log in or in game, it really doesn't matter, it freezes. I can run it for hours under OpenGL, which in turn drops my frame rate from 30 to about 3-5. I can't even attempt to play with those settings but it doesn't freeze. I have Direct X 9.0c and all the latest drivers for my motherboard, sound card, video, NIC, and anything else I could think of. I have all Windows Updates. I use SpyBot, Ad-Aware, and McAfee (I know alot of you are partial to Norton, but I had a bad experience with them. McAfee got rid of a virus that Norton couldn't). Anyways I'm spyware, adware, and virus free. I watched my temp on my video card as I was playing. It stayed at 50-55 C. Well anyways I figured if it was bad ram I would have trouble running other games and programs. I might be wrong about that.
Thank You in advance

I am haveint the same blackout issue as everyone else i run a radeon X800XT pentium 4 with a gig of ram. 305 power supply. screen keeps blacking out and locking up
Please help badly

A 300W powersupply for a X800XT, seems to be a bit on the low side. Even if most manufacturers say that 300W is the minimum recommended. If you have a lot of other hardware hooked up? Then you should be looking at a 450 to 500W PSU of good quality. This will also ensure you of enough power for any future upgrades.

I have the same logging window crashing problem with wow. In fact atm, i can play for about 10minutes if lucky, then it crashes (without creating error log because it hangs completely) and then i get into a cycle whereby if i enter my logging details correctly it crashes at "user autentication screen" So annoying!
Im running:
AMD Athlon 1.4
512RAM
Geforce 2 MMX 400
hardly kick ass but ive been running it fine no problems for months :s
Made all the usual stop off like disabling anti-virus, firewall, upgrading drivers, minising items in system tray but to no avaliable. Im waiting off an email back from blizzard, but im not holding my breathing, any suggestions guys ?

I'm not really sure your videocard is up to playing WoW. And it lacks support for direct x 9.0.
A Radeon 9600XT 128 or 256mb, would be a good card that is pretty cheap nowadays. And is powerful enough, without beeing bottlenecked by the 1.4 GHz Athlon.

definitely direct x 9 , also you need to upgrade those video cards to 5700 or better the 6800 cards have gotten cheap and affordable lately. as for those that are up there already i can tell you one thing maybe your cable modem is bad mine was and now i dont have any trouble cept the usual that every one gets ie; long ques and the occasional blizzard crash , i can only think of one thing maybe your video card upgrade, driver that is may be too strong for WoW
not all drivers out there especially the xtreme tweaked ones are good for warcraft my rig locked up once with the latest XG driver but that was it no more so i am at a loss for any other problems cept warcraft was a bit rough for the last week or 2.

Hi Just bout a £3,600 pc from alienware 2 sli 7800gt's water cooling downloaded latest drivers etc, running 2gig ram, and every game can be put up too the highest of settings and resolutions apart from wow which if I am lucky gives me a few hours online, I crash out, I have lockups, I have had every error report sent too microsoft and blizzard, and I have had no reply other than too make sure my pc isn't overheating! well I can assure u it isn't over heating! It seems alot of people with athlon64 are having alot of problems, If I crash in a city then its impossible too start the game as when it loads up the city its an instant crash and lockup, I then have too logon with my other PC's that are now worth about £10, and move myself away from the city, It cant be a blizzard problem it has too be a conflict with either a graphics driver or the actual connection too the internet! O Well not constructive but another name too add too the ever growing lists of MY SYSTEM CRASHES AND BLIZZARD ARE PLACING THEIR HEADS IN THE SANDS!!!!!!!!!
MAHAHAHAHAHAH

i dont think it is the athalon 64, i dont have any settings tweaked up on warcraft other than an extreme g driver and my rig being oc to 2.5 , i play with default game settings so maybe it is that .
i have had one problem with WoW and it never returned
maybe u need to play at default otherwise ???

Maybe the SLI is the problem? I have seen people running SLI, having some problems with Spellforce 2, wich is pretty similar to WoW.
Disable the SLI in the drivers propertys, and see what happends?

Same problem: Computer instantly crashes, with the screen going black, and only solution is to manually shut-down and turn on. It occurs mainly at Iron Forge, but has also happened in another dungeon (BFD).
Computer details:
CPU: AMD Athlon XP2000+
Mem: 512 MB
OS: XP Pro SP2
GC: GeForce 6600
of course all drivers\windows update\virus protection etc... are up to date, and heating isn't a problem as well.
Blizzard - what's up?!

you probably dont have the ram needed to run properly. despite the listed requirements.
of course, it could also be some random setting. my own stable and well-working computer crashes whenever I run in full size window mode. everything runs fine in full screen or standard resolution windowed mode. so fiddle with your settings, particulary video.
