ok, here it goes, i have windows xp. i have windows media player 10 and music match 8.0 or 8.2 ( which i was advised not to update music match to 9.0) I have before taken factory cds and played them in either mm or wmp and have been able to play and retrieve the music from the disc and store it into my computer. Now when i install a factory cd or a burned cd it will not play, the drive spins sometimes very fast and then it slows down. sometimes it just click. when i go into my computer it says please insert disk into drive. I contacted hp and they had me uninstall the cd/dvd drive and reinstall it. I did. i have checked for updates on my cd player and it says i am current. it still does not work. neither factory/burned music cds will play. I can play when i install a DVD or a data cd and they will work right away. therefore i don't feel even if i change the cd/dvd drive that it will make a difference. zoom zoom its there. no i don't know what to do. this is one question i will have another question later with palm desktop software. that will wait until later. this is first. any suggestions what to do? thanx, Dee.

Have you tried uninstalling any software related to the burner? Like InCD or whatever it is that stays active in memory? I once had a problem with my burner not functioning properly and when I uninstalled/disabled InCD it began to work properly...

No, I forgot to mention that at one time i had registry cleaner and i'm wondering if that grabbed a setting and then was deleted but it doesn't make sense that i can play games and dvds but musicmatch and windows media player 10 will not play any cd music at all. thank you for your reply and appreciate any more help on this matter. it was suggested that i try to reinstall windows media player again. but i can still burn cds (by the way it is a external burner but a internal cd/rom player).
