how do you reset ps2 with the controller?

Usually for most games it's all the shoulder buttons plus start and select. Or just start and select. I think this varies from game to game. I know it did for the original Playstation.

What game did you try it with? Because those button combos almost always work. As I said it varies from game to game.

Hold L1, L2, R1, R2 down at the same time, then press Select and Start at the same time (all those buttons must be held down at the last instant for it to work)... it should work on resetting the PS2, no matter what game you're on. It might not seem to work on the first pop, but repeating the process almost always does it.
If it doesn't work, then there's something wrong with your controller...

Haha, I recommended that to him. Are you sure it works for all games? I thought it was dependant on the game, maybe that's just the original Playstation.
