I am trying to get my Xbox live fixed, and when I plug in the ethernet cord to the modem and try to sign on it will say wires connected, IP settings configured, but then an error message will come up and say could not find DNS server and I need to know what to do. PLEASE HELP ME!

Have you tried the suggestions on the XBox Live: DNS Error support page?
Here are their suggestions:
To resolve this problem, try the following:
* If you have entered DNS server information in the Network Settings area of the Xbox Dashboard, verify that it matches the information provided by your ISP.
* If you confirm that the DNS information is configured correctly in the Xbox Dashboard, contact your ISP to determine whether they changed their DNS server addresses.
* If your ISP does not require that you manually configure DNS servers, and the DNS settings in the Xbox Dashboard are set to Automatic, your ISP may be experiencing a network outage. Contact your ISP to verify DNS server status.
