Help with MSN Messenger

Hi,
I just got WLAN on my Laptop and when I try to sign in to MSN Messenger, it automatically adds two symbols to my password, loads and finally says that the service is too busy! Also, I can't seem to log onto the hotmail site, although the original MSN download page worked. The problem also doesn't exist on my PC.
What should I do?
