Microsoft And DOJ Propose Agreement: Mass. Will Not Sign

Microsoft and the US Department of Justice have finally came to an agreement binding Microsoft to terms which supposedly give PC makers and others to promote products that compete with Microsoft's on the desktop. The full text of the agreement can be found here, and potential loopholes are looked at here.

Some have argued that this agreement doesn't do enough, and has left Microsoft too many loopholes. Massachusetts' attorney general, General Thomas F. Reilly, has said that he will not sign the antitrust agreement, stating "Microsoft will use this agreement to crush competition." Reilly is hoping to rally support with a group of states to force the measures taken in the agreement to stiffen.

This comes as a disappointment to many who want to see the case just end, though. Read more at WashTech here.
