SDRAM with DDR Graphics card?

My system is running with SDRAM memory. Would a graphics card with DDR work on it?

Hi!

Yeah, no problems. A videocard is like a small computer of it's own. It have it's own memory and processor (GPU). Just make sure you select a card with at least 128 mb of RAM.... And avoid Geforce MX.

And if you are loooking for the new Geforce 6 and 7 series cards or Radeon X series? then first make sure you have a powersupply at least 400W or preferably more
If you don't know? Unplug and open the PC case and take a look at the Powersupply label.
Also have in mind, that the new Geforce / Radeons, also comes in PCI Express flavour, that dont fit your motherboard.

But if you just are looking for a good, pretty cheap card? without having to swap PSU. My suggestions is:

SAPPHIRE RADEON 9600XT 256M Radeon 9600XT 256MB 128-bit DDR AGP 4X/8X Video Card - OEM $93.00

ATI RADEON 9800PRO 128M Radeon 9800PRO 128MB 256-bit DDR AGP 4X/8X Video Card - Retail $136.00

Here is a suggestion for a good PSU, if you feel you need one?

ASPIRE ATX-AS520W SILVER ATX 520W Power Supply 103-132VAC or 206-264VAC RMS switch selectable CB IEC 950/ TUV EN 60950/ UL 1950/ CSA 950 - Retail $58.00

DDR generally is short for DDR-SDRAM.

Which when spelled out is Double Data Rate- Syncronous Dynamic Random Access Memory.

This is an upgrade over the older type of SDRAM, SDR-SDRAM. The only difference in the acronym is the first S, which in this case stands for Single.

Irregardless, the ram type for your CPU, thats the system ram, is a separate entity from the ram on your graphics card.

Now my question is, what system specs do you have. If your system is older, that affects what video card can be recommended.
