AMD Athlon XP 2400+ won't overclock

Ok, I'm running an AMD Athlon XP 2400+ on a K7VTA3 mobo. Right now, the jumper settings on the mobo are set to 133mhz FSB, which I have oc'd to 140mhz through the bios. However, a website I looked at, as well as a post on this forum, said I should be able to bring the jumper settings up to 166 mhz. When I do this, however, the compy won't boot up. So, the question is, am I actually, in fact, able to do this, and if so, how?

There's no guarantees in overclocking. It could be that your chip isn't a good overclocker, or you might need to give it more voltage.

I would suggest adding vcore, but before you do that you should visit a site like www.ocforums.com and learn as much about overclocking as you can. it's extremely easy to fry your equipment if you don't know what you're doing.
