it comes and goes but breifly what happens is if im on a particular page for a while when i try nd move forward or click other media it pops up a message that im not currently connected to the internet and asks if i want to continue working offline or connect.
an example would be i have a website with an mp3 player on it...by the time the first song on the playlist finishes and it tries to load the next song i get the message and have to manually connect( click connect ).
im assuming it times out the connection to save resources or somthing but i would like it not to.
as i said before it comes and goes but i notice it most after using my ftp client to upload web pages.....(smart ftp.)

what kind of internet connection do you have? If its a cable, there may be a loose connection.

its a dsl line through a westell modem/router... i know its not a cable issue because my network status is always shown as connected at 100mbps so i have a good connection to the router.
its only with IE. 6.0 on xp proffesional. its as if Ie automatically goes offline when idle and i cant find anyhting in the settings to change that.
it hasnt happend for the last day and a half so im just waiting for it so i can investigate more

does this occur with other browsers?

i dent really use other browsers....i tried firefox a while back i i didn't like the way it displayed the majority of pages i visit so im holding off on a switch..
but sometimes when i use smart ftp i get a message stating forcibly closed by client then i have to reconnect...usually when it sets idle...
its mostly just irritating because i don't know what it is and it doesn't happen with any pattern. even if i restart it will continue doing it till it just decides to go away.
and i run adware/spyware/ virus scan at least once a week, pc based and online.

Perhaps one of your filters or phone plugs are loose? Try checking all the connection, and if it still persists, contact verison and tell them you have been having intermediate disconnections.
