In display settings, my only options are 2 or 16 colors. I have a HP Pavilion 8550c computer and a HP pavilion mx70 monitor. This problem occurred after a re/format and a restore to Original software.

Unfortunately some original restores (because it is an install) only applies basic drivers. Update drivers for video and monitor should fix the problem.
