NVCore Error

Trying to help freind with his compaq 5wv270, Keep geeting nvcore error. Also states that the adapter is not cofiq correctly, but will not allow changes. stays at 16 mill colors. Only option. Does the card need to be changed out? Tried total recovery and downloaded drivers, same issues.
