Modem and router not working

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I am at the end of my rope trying to get my linksys wireless router and Motorola modem to work. I have tried everything: Called linksys, dell, Motorola, Cox (ISP), and searched the Internet. I have even tried new wireless routers and they still don't work. Could you please help??? This is my situation:

The modem connected to the computer works great; no problems at all.

When connecting the modem to the router -- the Internet light on the router does not come on. Its like the router doesn't see the modem

Any ideas??

I know the cables are good, the router works (works at a friends house), modem is working (cuz it works alone), and linksys walked me thru the settings.. don't know what else to do.. The Tech at linksys said that the modem may be too fast for the router. Is ths true? Can i fix this problem?

If you could help, I would greatly appreciate it !!!

Thanks Chris

Did you make sure to use the cable that came with the modem to connect between the modem and router? Or, did you simply unplug the cable from the modem end and plug that end into the router and then use the cable that came with the router to go between the router and modem? The reason I ask is that some modem cables are not the same as a network cable. Make sure that the cable that came with the modem is used to connect the modem to the router and not to connect the router to the computer. I have had this problem with my motorola modem.
