WMP10, media library corrupt

Hi all,
I've a problem with my media library in windows media player 10.
The library screen is blank, even though I've added files to it in the past and until recently it was ok. If I try to add files to the library by searching for them or monitoring my music folder, nothing happens.
I've also seen an unknown error message but this problem is not mentioned on microsoft tech help.
I've tried removing & reinstalling WMP10 but no good. I've also tried to install an earlier version, i.e. WMP9 but won't let me as a later version is already installed.
Has anyone seen this before and know's a fix?

You could try uninstalling WMP10 then installing WMP9, if you wish to go back a version. How are you adding the files? Have you tried just clicking and dragging? And have you tried adding folders through the add choice in the menu? You could also try setting it up to monitor some folders through the "Library" tab in the options.
