Outlook Express usage with Cable modem

I am trying to get Outlook express to work with Adelphia cable. I can receive mail, I can reply to mail and I can forward e-mail but I cannot write an e-mail using Outlook express. The message is returned with a Port 25 error. How can I open Port 25? I am using Windows 2000 Pro and there is no firewall. Any suggestions?
