In the last few days on 4 occasions my computer has just shut off, started up again on its own. Then I have an error message box from microsoft saying "Your system has recovered from a serious error". When I click for details it shows the area this pertains to and it is like Sherry/locals/temp/, then each time lists a different number next after temp. So I x out of the box and all is ok. Until the next time. No certain time at all. The first and second times were about an hour apart. Then it was ok for a day or so. then again one day and again another day it happened again. Help.

It is possible that the capacitors on your motherboard are going bad. Or some other kind of short in your hardware somewhere. It happened to me on a Biostar board. Mine was bad caps. They got all puffy on the top. I think they can start leaking further down the sides, which would be harder to see. I hope I am completly wrong, cuz if I am not, it means new motherboard. Good Luck.

Could also be a heat issue or a bad psu issue. Could be a bad ram issue. Could be quite a few things. It is generally helpful to post your system specs, the age of the system.

if its just restarting, it could be just about anything. if its actually shutting off, its hardware.

well it shuts off by itself and immediately turns back on and then when it comes back up it has the message of the "system has recovered from a serious error. It's it about 2 years old. I don't know what else you need to know.

that sounds like restarting, not shutting off. on the off chance it is actually shutting off, then turning itself back on, i would say look at the power supply and power switch, perhaps an electrician to check house wiring.

I guess I don't know if it is shutting off or just restarting. It goes off like if you cut the power and turned the power back on, or pushed the power button on the computer to turn it on. or like It goes off and comes back on as like pushing restart.
