What is "LckFldServicelog.exe/.txt" ?

I recently took the time to defrag my h.d. Once it completed, it told me that all files were defragged except ONE file: "Lckfldservicelog.txt"...which, just fyi, is almost 7,900 different segments and occupies 2.3 GB!! I searched the directory listing and found another file called "Lckfldservicelog.exe". I am assuming that the .txt file is a log file byproduct of the aforementioned .exe file. I haven't scanned the file yet due to the size...I need to dig up a good file utility that will allow me to browse the contents without opening the entire file....I'll do that next.

But needless to say (I will anyway), if this is not needed, I want to delete it and reclaim the space.

I searched for those names in Google and came up with NO results of any value whatsoever. Does anyone have any idea of what these files are and/or what they do?

Any info would be appreciated.

TIA.

Gary

Hi!

I found this text about " Lckfldservice":

# The process belongs to the software LckFldService by unknown.

Description: File LckFldService.exe is located in the folder C:\Windows\System32. The file size on Windows XP is 36864 bytes.
There is no file information. The program has no visible window. It is an unknown file in the Windows folder. The file is not a Windows system file. Therefore the technical security rating is 6% dangerous, however also read the users reviews.

Important: Some malware can camouflage themselves as LckFldService.exe, particularly if they are located in c:\windows or c:\windows\system32 folder. Thus check the LckFldService.exe process on your pc whether it is pest. We recommend using some anti malvare to remove the eventual pest.#

did some more research and this is what I found:

LckFldServicelog.txt is a file that is created as the "Folder Access" program works. This is a log of actions by the program...I suspect it is a product of the LckFldService.exe program. Between you and me, the contents of the log file are pretty skimpy and not really worth much.

However, each time you lock and/or unlock folders, the program appends records to the log file. So...just a warning to periodically reduce the size of the file or re-create it empty to avoid a situation in which I found myself.

I found the LckFldServicelog.txt file when I did a defrag on my hard disk. The LckFldServicelog.txt file was 2.3 GB in size and over 7,900 segments! Once I researched this file and found out what it was, I dumped it and reclaimed the space.

Thanks so much for your input.
