ps2 broken for no reason

i had to put my ps2 away in my cupboard, the game was still in (simpsons hit and run). We turned the console off and we took out the coloured plugs from the tv. While it was in there it got turned on again. It must've been a few days until i found it on. Now all we can do is press the turn on button, it goes green but no games or main menus come up.
Is it broken or can i fix it??

yeah, maybe. hope not i'll be so dead if it's broken! but with my ninteno i've done that before and when i had an xbox i did that too....maybe we just need to take it in
