Just wondering what everyone thinks about it. I played it with some friends for about 5 hours last night. It got pretty crappy reviews, but I generaly like the game. It can be SO much better though, possibly one of the greatest 3d fighters ever(if not THE greatest) if they made some changes to it(and added more damn characters).
My gripes are mostly about the available options for attacking that dont include the environment. You have 1 basic attack button and then 1 super attack. Then you have other small attacks based around other things you do. Such as with spiderman, you can shoot web at them, websling into a double kick, jump to a kick, etc. And you get 2 or 3 throw attacks. Thats all nice, but i like being able to do more dynamic attacks, such as low kick, high kick, etc.
The environment is the best part of the game. Simply because just about everything can be used to do some type of damage. Its pretty cool when someone tries to run behind a car, you grab a barrel that can explode, and then throw it at the car and it explodes on the car, then the car explodes after it catches on fire. Being able to catch thrown items is cool too. I was using thing and someone was using Venom, we did the NYC streets level. He picked up the huge fan and threw it at me, I caught it and threw it back and it exploded on him lol. One thing that would make the environment even better is if you could damage the buildings that make up the ring. Like say you are thing and you pick up venom and throw him into a brick wall. Instead of the flat little damage graphic they have, the building should smash in a bit, sort of like on source engine games. But I suppose thats for the next gen of consoles.
Spiderman is by far my favorite character. His moves are just awesome, plus he has webslinging and everything. Human Torch is my second favorite. The animations are done VERY well on this game. The overall graphics i dont care for, but they are alright.
