DirectX 8.1 final is out

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

DirectX 8.1 Final has now been officially released. You can download your applicable version below:

DX8Redist.exe - Windows 98(SE), Me, 2000, and XP.

DX81NTeng.exe - Windows 2000

I'm not sure why both versions are for Windows 2000. Unless the second one just has less data with it since it's only for Windows 2000. Post your inputs here on your thoughts of DX8.1 if you try it.

Hmmm, strange that it's not yet listed in my critical or recommended product updates when I hit the Windows Update link ... maybe they're trying to imply something?

hehe, they just have them on their server. They haven't updated the download page yet.

Well, took the plunge!

So far seems to increase speed for gaming, though I don't play many games. No problems so far. Anything comes up I'll post about it.

Running Win 98se

Thanks for the update!
