I had a really weird dream...

And I want to tell people so it doesnt come true!

I was taking a small nap. I left my pc on cuz I didnt think it would be that long. Anyways, I had this dream:

I woke up in my room. It was really hot, and my pc was making really weird noises. So, I shut it down and opened up the case. When I opened the case Imminse heat came out of it. The heat in the air inside of it was so hot that it burned my hand without touching anything. I then grabbed a can of compressed gas for some reason to see if something was blocking the fan or something. When I shot air into it, tons of white smoke came billowing out of it. Thats when I woke up.

2 hours after I hit the "away" on my pc is when I woke up.

Very strange....

Freud would probably ask you if you have had "intimate" longings for your computer ... but I think you just had a tad too many computer problems this week that you tend to dream about it...

I think it is because I have become paranoid with cpu heat, even though im not overclocked. I think its because I heard so much about the Pentium 4 overheating easily.

I had an odd dream the other day too. I was up late watching TV and had dozed off. In my dream I was walking around smelling beef jerky. When I woke up, I was hungry and there was an infomercial for a food dehydrator on TV. Crazy.

Probaly just sometihng you heard while you were sleeping....are you cpu fans loud??? hehe

On the other hand it could be daja vu..........never know....

Posted by: SKYHN

actually the fan is pretty loud when i lay on my bed. the cpu is about 4 feet to the left of my pillow. maybe that was the cause.

In any event....I would not worry about it.

If you are that concerned...you may do like I did a few years back on a previous incarnation of my computer....buy yourself a small digital indoor/outdoor thermometer and place the small sensor close to your CPU. Drill a hole in the back of your case to feed the wire and place the thermometer on your desk etc...this should put to ease any anxiety of overheating.

When worried...sometimes, a little active prevention can subside many worries.

Thats a little extreme. That would probably void my HP waranty too. But I have had SiSoft Sandra for a long time and that has a cpu temperature stat. Dont know how accurate it is though

Currently:
CPU Temp is 33.5 C / 92.3 F
Power/Aux Temp is 38.5 C / 101.3 F

Posted by: taco_fox

If that's bad.. then I better start worrying

CPU: 128.8 F

and that's with the case off

Posted by: SKYHN

Good lord man, what is your cpu?

Posted by: laborat

You might want to consider hormone therapy for
those *hot flashes

hehehe

1.1 Athlon

Cover your eyes if you don't want them to bleed...

Poorly cooled room
Enclosed space for the comp
One (!!!!) OEM case fan and one CPU fan

that's why I don't have the case on, and I'm planning to go to Fry's to get more fans when I have the week off for Thanksgiving. Ah.. my first case modding

Posted by: SKYHN

I like those cases that have the windows and stuff on them, but I cant find them for sale anywhere.

Posted by: taco_fox

It'd be cool if I could do something like that, but I'm not that great with tools. I'll just put a couple of holes in it for intake and exhaust fans. But it's not like it still won't be a challenge. I'm known for insisting on working with what I have and making use of common items for odd jobs. Looks like I'll be using a jig saw blade manually. (don't ask why I have a blade and not a saw. I don't really know either)

There is a lan group near my area and i was checking out their site. That is where i first saw the towers with windows and designs and all that good stuff on them.

Posted by: Mr.Dragon

heh maybe your computer's possesed and it's trying to give you a sign...

Posted by: Outlaw

Lol, I had SiSoft Sandra on my previous comp too (P3-450), the program that came with the mainboard said it was somewhere between 40 and 50 C, Sandra said it was 130 C

And Radarblib, I don't know how much Celcius that is, but if it's less then 50 you got nothing to worry about.

SKYHN - www.thinkgeek.com has those custom cases with windows.. and thumbscrews and other cool mods. If you're not opposed to ordering stuff off the internet, that is...

Posted by: SKYHN

Alright, Ill go check it out. One of my cousin used some stencils and spraypaint on his case. Then his powersupply started to go out, and when he called compaq, they said that because of the spray paint on the case, it voided the warranty. Kinda dumb thing to void a warranty, thats why im building my next pc.

cool cool dreams can be very funny. and strange at that. i have had some dreams that noone can imagine. have u ever read a book about dreams? i went to barns N noble awhile ago and loooked through about 5 kinda wierd

Posted by: SKYHN

What does it mean when you have a re-occuring dream where you are falling or fall?

I remember someone told me once, but I cant remember what it was..

Posted by: Bishop

It means You're Doomed.

Posted by: SKYHN

DOOMED?

Posted by: Canis Lupus

DOOMED!

Posted by: redwench

depends on how recurring the dream is. if its nightly, then it may mean something. if it happens once every few weeks, we all get that dream.

but, according to the people who believe dreams have meaning, a falling dream means youre insecure about something.
