Probably not. Maybe you just forgot to reset "hide ikons" after using that feat?
Or it's a registry problem. Download a registry repair software.
But do run your antivirus as a safty precausion.

Explorer.exe could be messed up too. Have you been messing with any custom desktop shell software? Improperly removing it could cause Explorer to stop loading.

or it could be a conicedence that both stopped working. Make sure that your task bar isn't minimized!! something the simpliest things throw people off!
