I have a question that maybe somebody else has had the same issue. When i run counterstrike source on my machine at home, I keep getting a "memory cannot read" error, or the game blue screens and freezes. I figured bad ram timing, so i redid the Latency configuration in the bios. No matter what latency i set it has the same issue. I'm thinking it's something to do with the software, but if anybody else has had the issue let me know please.
My system is as follows
Asus A8NE-FM Mobo
AMD 64 3700+ (939) San Deigo Core
2X 512 MB Mushkin L2 Black Line Ram
2X 256 MB Mushkin L2 Black Line Ram = 1.5GB Ram Dual Channel Mode
XFX 6800GT PCI X
XP MCE is the OS
74GB WD Raptor
120GB WD SATA
200GB WD SATA
120GB External USB HDD
3com NIC
Antec SLK3700 Case 450W Nspire Power
My Key came from a friend who got it with an AMD 64 Kit (already purchased the retail HL2) and i download the games from steam over the net. I've tried reinstalling the game and steam twice to no avail. I've also run Multiple stress tests on the ram and never had an error.

You could always download "Memtest" and let it run a couple of hours.
That way you see if the RAM is healthy?

Tried it, ram passes with flying colors. Even took my machine to my work, pulled out ram and tested in new machines and it works fine.

Have you tried patching the game?

There is a url to this problem on the css server i play on. If i happen to see it again, ill write it down and post it here.

Yes, i get all the latest patches as soon as they come out.. but i think that may have been part of the problem. The guys I work with that play CS said that the patch that came out when i installed the game was a piece of crap so I think it may have something to do with the latest patch.
If you could send me to that link it would be great thx very much for all your help =-)

Yes, the new patch did really mess css up, but, you should still be able to play. Steam updates have been released after that patch was released. If i happen to see the link ill post it. Just wait a day, i see if i can dig it up.

I don't know how helpful it will be to you, but it was posted on the server...

Still testing to find the problem, your link did help, but in the end i just sent my system specs to valve and they are going to check for incompatability problems, the last thing I can think of however is my on board audio, everytime the game crash's (i have been wearing my headset lately) you can hear a noise in the background and i think it may have something to do with my audio.. when i finally figue it out, i'll be sure to post the fix, thx for the link and all your help
