system restore

I have XP-SP2 installed but system restore is not working. It is not mentioned in computer properties and in GPE it is not configured meaning it is on by default. Have more than enough disk space.

Run CHKDSK.
Download a registry repair software.
Uninstall SP2 in "Add / Remove programs". And reinstall it again.

What happens when you open it from the start menu? Does it give you an error message?
