Installing XP on PwrEdge 830

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hi, I'm trying to install XP on a Dell PowerEdge 830 and when I hit F6 during the setup process, it's asking for a disk. What do I need on the disk in order for this to work?

Thanks!
Steve

Some SATA chipsets are supported by Windows XP. If yours is not, and you're installing on a SATA drive, you need a disk with the SATA drivers. They're probably on one of the CDs that came with it.

If you're installing on a regular IDE drive, or if your SATA chipset is supported, simply don't press F6 and let the installation continue without installing extra drivers.

They're SCSI drives, does this make a difference?

Not really, except you'd need SCSI drivers on that disk instead of SATA drivers.
