String theory

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hmmm... well I was wondering if anyone knows anything about String Theory? I have just recently heard about it and am looking to learn more about it. From what I understand there is not just one string theory, but that it relates to space and time and the fourth dimension. If anyone has ever heard about this... can you please send some info or tips on how to learn about it and/or understand it by posting here?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/String_Theory <-- Great starting place. Lots of links to follow and some reference material at the end.

I was listening to a radio interview with a theoretical physicist by the name of Lawrence Krauss. I have been meaning to pick up at least one of his books. Try this website:

The nice thing about theoretical physics is that it can have no basis whatsoever in reality and no one's to tell you hither or nither! It's all a theory, baby!

Yes, I know.

I always liked the concept of statistics and probability more. Probability is a pretty laid back part of math . You have a 60% chance of event A happening, 39% chance it won't happen, and a 1% chance you ****ed up somewhere and you want to cover your ass. Though it doesn't matter if you're right or wrong because your solution says either can happen.. you win either way.

I also haven't slept since yesterday so this may not be as peculiar to me tomorrow.
