Ipod Not Recognized - Wants Drivers

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I'm home for thanksgiving and I'm trying to help my sister get her iPod connected to the family computer. When I plug in the iPod, the windows XP New Hardware Wizard comes up and it wants to search for drivers. The iPod does not show up as a hard drive in "My Computer". Under Device Manager, the Ipod appears with a question mark. I see from searching online that there is an issue with windows XP not working with USB mass storage devices but cannot find a resolution. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling iPod Updater and iTunes. Does anyone else have any other suggestions? I get to the point during installation where it asks me to attach the iPod, but when I attach it the program just doesn't see it. Thanks in advance for your help!

Try changing the usb 2.0 to a 1.1 by disableing the enhanced controller. I had this same problem with my ipod nano and this resolved it for me.
