question on AMD and intel

hi
i was thinking of gettin a new pc in december and i've narrowed it down to 2 systems. They are both basically the same except of the CPU one has a Pentium 4 prescott CPU and the other has a AMD athon 64 X2 CPU could n e 1 plz give me some sort of advice on which one 2 purchase thx alot

Depends on what you would be using the computer for. I would go for the AMD.

Currently AMD's line is better than Intels. Word on the street is that Intel is changing their microarcheticture soon, to lower clock speeds (like AMD, i guess). But that aside, AMD's X2 line runs cooler, uses less power, and is more powerful than the competing Pentium D. In all honesty, I don't think it will really matter. If you plan on doing alot of multitasking, running many programs at once, you're better off with the AMD. Otherwise, it doesn't matter much.
