Hey guys, I have recently reinstalled windows to try and get rid of some errors i had in my registry, but instead of all the files being removed from my hard drive, I now have 40 gig of files which are hidden... not helpful.

I have eneabled the see invisible files option, as well as performed searches for some files to get an idea of thier location, but still no luck.

If anyone knows how i can solve this problem, i would be most grateful.

P.S. I do not mind if i have to clear the hard drive in the process, in fact it would be welcomed.

Thanks in advance.

Well, before you start reformatting your computer and reinstalling everything, it may be worthwhile to do a full virus/malware scan, scandisk, and defrag.

Though I may warn you, scandisk and defrag is gonna take longer than a full reformat/reinstall, but they won't require you to be at your computer when it's happening.

Unfortunately i have already tried that, didnt work. Have tried to clear the hard-drive by reformatting it and also checked for partitions, but no success

When you reformatted, did you remove all partitions from your drive, repartition, and then do a full NTFS format?

Have done it now, thanks guys
