Monitor problem

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: rtarlter

I just added a LCD monitor to my computer and it keeps giving me a notice in the middle of the screen to set new settings. I have done that and told it to apply. The problem is with a game. The notice to change the monitor setting only comes up when a game is being played. The rest of the time it is not in the middle of the screen. What can I do to stop it?
Thanks

Whant videocard is this? What resoloution and update frequensy do you use for the monitor.
What setting(s) is it that this message wants you to change?

It is the screen resolution. It wants it changed to 1280 by 1024 pixels. Which I did and that is what is shows when I go into it. But the stupid pop up just keeps popping up. But only on one game.
I even turned the computer off and back on. But that did not work either.
Thanks

If you want the message to stop showing up, you probably need to run the game in the monitor's native resolution. If you're playing the game at a different resolution from your desktop's, then your monitor's probably informing you that it detected a new resolution and simply wants to display the new resolution properly.

Not sure I know how to do that, but will give it a try. Thanks for the help.

Check your in-game options for some resolution settings. Most games will have it these days.

If you're playing something old that doesn't allow you to change resolutions, or doesn't support your desktop's resolution, you're going to just have to live with it.

That or choose a desktop resolution that's the same with all your games.
