printer problem

my aunt was printing labels on her printer. im guessing its an hp deskjet, from like 1995-96. and it got jammed, and she pulled out the paper. After that she got errors that said the cardtridge was no longer usable, so she got a new 1 and got the same error, do u think she messed sumthan up when she pulled out the paper? she tried to troubleshoot it and align the printer cartridges, and it still didnt work.
any ideas?

Maybe a Canon printer? I like Canon, for their reability and good ink economy. And that they can't cheat, with the amount of ink in their cartriges as they are transparent. I have a pretty old Canon I 550, still going strong.
