New Sound Card not working

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

so after having all those IRQL problems crashing and what not(which i still have yet to fix :-\) and my four year old soundblaster live value stops working and i figure o well it was old, i treid it on all my PCI slots and it just wouldnt work anymore, my PCI NIC card was working ont he PCI so i figured nothign was wrong with the PCI slots, now i finally get a new Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum hook it up and then when i tried to install it it tells me its not reading the card, i tried it on multiple PCI slots and it doesnt read it, if i hadn't been having these problems i would assume i got a defective card, but idk i was thinking if i flashed my BIOS that would maybe slap my mobo back into shape, but i dont really know how to do that

Your PC? Is it pre or home buildt machine?

If you bought the mobo. then you should have a BIOS update / flash tool on the CD, that came with your board.

If it's a pre build? Read this:

no i built it myself, any idea why this would be happenking though?

The MOBO would be what exactly?

SOYO KT880 Dragon 2

Try flashing the BIOS. This will often help when the a new card is'nt recognized.

There is a BIOS availiable.

thank you i will try this out, ::crosses fingers::

it appears i already have the newest BIOS, My current version is 4aa1, and that is the same as on the site, it also says Date Released: 2004-09-17, and on my BIOS the copyright date goes to 2004, should i do it anyway?

Posted by: goranpaa

You could always try. But I belive, that it wont matter much. If not your old BIOS is faulty in some way?

And also update the chipset driver.

Posted by: Sandman1278

i downloaded newest chipset drivers, i think i might have had them already but i installed them anyway, and it didnt help, so should i jsut flash the BIOS then even though it seems as if I already have the newest BIOS version?

I think, you should contact Soyo and Creative. They might be able to help you?. But I guess that somethings, fishy with that mobo.

Posted by: Sandman1278

FYI Soyo has worst customer service ever! Two guys in an office in India who dont speak english fluently

Posted by: goranpaa

Oh man! Then maybe it is mobo swapping time?

Try setting your system back to normal speeds. Overclocking may be the culprit. And creative sound cards are quirky like that to subtle changes.

How old is your mobo, try changing the cmos battery
