Extremely Noisy Heatsink

Just recently, my heatsink has been making a very loud noise. It sounds like a muffled food processor. It only does this about every other time I turn on the computer. According to Everest Home. The heatsink fan's RPM is around 1480. My CPU temp is 91 degrees farenheit(mighta spelled that wrong sorry). I think these numbers are normal, but if they aren't tell me. If they are, then the only thing is that nasty noise, which I could live with for a while as long as it wasn't damagin my system.

Heatsinks don't make noise, fans do.
See if you can remove all the dust from it. They can make quite alot of noise when they're out of balance. Also, without the dust they turn faster, which means they cool better, although 91 degrees fahrenheit is perfectly fine.

You could also give it some lubrication while you're at it.

My cpu is at 56 C or 133F...-.-'' is that bad??

It's not the best of temperatures. But a couple of good case fans, may take care of that.
And as long as this temperature is under load, that is. ( Load I.e when gaming and such.) You may manage. If you are getting some case fans?
Just put one fan as sucking in air, in the front of the case. And one as exhaust, at the back.

Oh, I just noticed that the heatsink and the fan we're not one part! I'm smart, lol. Also, my RPM jumps from about 1480 down to 1442 and up again everyonce in a while. Is that normal? How should I remove the dust, blow on it or take it out and wipe it?

I've found a vacuum cleaner to work quite well. It also spins the fan and stuff too.
You probably don't want to take it out unless that's really easy to do. Other people here have used compressed air, but ... I feel a little iffy about using that stuff on anything other than keyboards.

for that matter, you can wipe it while its still attached.

Yes, that's normal.

Now it no longer shows up in Everest Home! I think it might be dying. I can hear it spinning and my temps are fine though.

As you have an ASUS mobo. Then go to Asus home and download "Asus Probe". And keep an eye on the fan speed and temps. Then, if you can't fix the fan. Get a new Intel stock heatsink / fan, at Tigerdirect. They are pretty cheap.

Ooooh. Nice and cheep. For something that cheep, I'll just go and buy it from a store though.

Just check if the thermal pad is included (should be)? Or you maybe have some Thermal paste at home you can use. And don't forget to clean the CPU with some Acetone and a coffee filter or a lint free cloth, before you fit the new sink.

If you're going to go through the trouble of changing the fan (the only thing more painful than changing the fan is changing the motherboard ), I would recommend you shell out the extra 20-30 bucks for a real one, and some Arctic Silver to boot.
