Anyone ever had a Stress test???
Went to the doc today.. they did an EKG.. and it came back abnormal.. so friday I am going to the hospital to do a Stress test and an Echocardiagram.. just wondering what to expect..
BTW.. I am only 28... but in the last year I have had one friend have a heart attack at 32.. and another die of a heart attack at 42.. so when the doc suggested these tests.. I didn't object..
Posted by: Brkrmode5290
That's really scary,...only 32. I wouldn't have objected either. My question is what would be so stressful to cause one to go like that?

Life man..
just some personal info here..
28.. 6'4.. 300lbs..
I work 68hrs a week.. or more.. usually 70-80..
stress is part of my daily deal..
ohh and I love my job.. wouldn't trade it for the world..

I believe a stress test is where the doctor puts you through excercises while monitoring your heart to see if there are any abnomalities. Check out page at the American Heart Association.

Honestly.. I have done it all.. from construction to pushing carts at wal-mart to pulling phone lines.. jack of all trades.. but.. my current occupation is by far the best..
I work from home.. via the web.. to fix computers.. Win XP and 2k only.. customers all have DSL or cable.. and for the most part it's spyware/adware/virus issues.. and then throw in some "How do I change the color of the text in Word" and "why won't my mail send" ohh and a few "my internet is broke" and well thats an average day..
why so many hours.. it breaks down like this..
40 mon-fri
14 hrs Sat Oncall
14 hrs Sun Oncall
add in OT.. and extra hours here and there.. and my week is full..
BUT... I love the job.. the pay is great.. and.. I work from home.. hell I can give you tech support from the crapper..

never go to the doctor, they will nearly always find something wrong with you. just like everything in the modern world, nothings good for you. just ask yourself how people survived before they had the benefit of modern medicine and the media to inform them of all these dangers, surely they wouldve been dropping like flys and the human race would not exist.
Posted by: redwench
"stress" in your life has nothing to do with an abnormal ekg, a heart attack, or a stress test.
have fun on your treadmill dude.

People survived before modern medicine by living to the average old age of thirty four, unless they belonged to a secret society of warlockian magi, whom discovered antibiotics and plumbing billions of years ago thanks to their flower-based gods.
If you were one of those lucky few, why then you've lived for several centuries and should know the secret handshake that I am about to propose, upon which completion of we can engage in several acts of debauched erotoccultism.

LOL.. thanks Red.... I am dreading that treadmill.. kinda still have a bad knee from an auto accident.. and because of it I limit my walking/running to minimal.. hell I don't even walk to the mail box..
The Job.. the job rocks.. I got it because of gaming.. becasue of who I gamed with.. and what I knew.. I got it becase when the boss ask "if you don't know something and there is no one around to ask what do you do?" and I said the magic word.. GOOGLE!!!!..
ohh and some of the knowing the right ppl. and being in the right place at the right time..
The other cool thing.. I am the Night/weekend supervisor.. and mon-fri nights.. the other guy I work with.. is my best friend... and the ppl that I work with durring the afternoon.. are all my friends.. when the company started to grow.. ( I was employee #2) and look for ppl.. I got resume's from my friends and got them onboard.. life is so much better when you a) love your job and b) work with friends..

a stress test? sweet! what you need to do is get the "training montage" music from rocky iv, and before you get the treadmill you need the doc to say "i will break you" in his best faux-ruskie accent.
yeah, then you should be fine

Good luck on your stress test. Been there done that. Back in 2001 I managed to drop dead, had one of those "tunnel" experiences before I came back. That was wild. I'm not that ancient either. Better safe than sorry in your case!

Awesome. Did you see Jesus or Moses?

or the Godfather?

i would hope her hallucination would be better that those.....

I seriously doubt I had a hallucination. The body was as dead as a mackerel, I'll spare the disgusting details, the heart had stopped and I was most definitely dead. I saw things and was told things there that have definitely changed me. Yes, I met Jesus and he's a really cool guy, not some stuffy old poop the preachers tell you about.

I have done a stress test once and it's not so bad. Here in Belgium they do it on a stationary bike where you have to keep a certain speed continuously. Then they increase the pressure on the wheel as if you were biking uphill and you still have to keep the same speed. At the end you're glad it's done. In my opinion when you lead a stressful life but you love what you're doing it's all a matter of how you react to the stress. Even what you eat is very important. Dont you think getting away from it all(even for a weekend) would be great. All the best. Paul

I died and wound up here, and apparantly their attempts to revive me failed because I've been stuck here for several years.

Visit pub take moderate drink, read off topics in forums, join a recreation centre everything will be normal, no need to go for stress test.

Hi Jinn, I had a stress attack when I got married but I did not know I was really stressed it felt just like a heart attack I felt really faint and had to lie down and could barely breath and had a sharp pain in my back near the heart. The hospital ran tests I was really afraid I had a heart attack but the test I had where they look at the heart and listen to it they said I had a heart strong as a bull.. I then had to pay $5000.00 for the hospital which only ran tests and I stayed overnight and they gave me a few asperins.. But really they did nothing that I could not do except listen to my heart.. I felt relieved I am a active person I was 34 when it happened. I am now 41 and still healthy. What I learned was don't let things get to you and take care of yourself. Life is fragile our bodies will only take so much. I try not to worry about things and not let things control how I feel. Don't sweat it is my view that don't mean not to care but things will work out as long as we keep trying. I would recommend exercise, computer work can be stressful. I myself do construction and I use my pc alot for my side business of photo work I find when I do sit at the pc alot I can get stressed. So if you are doing that alot that may be the cause. Physical exercise has a way of calming us down sometimes. Getting the thyroids working right and the body becomes more balanced. Also it helps to think correctly.

I have been having annual stress test since 1989 when i had bypass. They are not that bad and if your knee is bad, just tell them ahead of time and they can give you a shot that simulates the same results as walking on the treadmill.I have done it both ways, and as i got older the shot method was easier and it only lasts four minutes.Good luck and try not to worry,be thankful they caught it early and can fix anything they find.Better than droping dead of a heart attack at 30.

man.. work work work.. thats all I do.. infact.. I am at work now.. yeah.. weekends.. and weekdays.. I did 72 hours last week.. and this week looks to be the standard 68..
test went. ok.. did the shot deal.. no treadmill.. YEAHHHH...
got the results.. seems that the input side of my heart has a higher than normal preasure.. they said loose weight.. yeahh.. BTW.. was 350.. down to 300 now.. and still going..
going in Feb 1st for a Sleep Study.. I know I hava sleep apnia.. they are going to tell me how severe it is.. and see what they can do about it.. may end up in surgery for opening the airways..
really.. my life is pretty easy.. I work.. I sleep.. i eat better than I ever have (healthier I should say) have really cut out the fast food.. more home cooked stuff.. less grease.. I still have my soda addiction.. but went from Mt. Dew to Diet Coke.. and.. meds are being changed.. getting off Zyprexa.. a drug known to have the side effect of weight gain.. and going to prozac.. my sleep schedule has gone from 14 hours a day to now only about 7.. after the first of the year.. i am getting a trainer.. going to try to do maybe 2x's a week with him.. and work up to 4-5 x's per week..

Let's hope that your continued weight loss helps improve your sleep since surgery of any kind is risky but more so if you're overweight.
I'm hoping you'll quit the soft drinks altogether, especially the diet ones. ewww aspartame!! My family doctor calls it the "saccharin of the 90's"
Aaahhh, water - good stuff.
Posted by: Muggle_Man
hm...I don't think I could ever give up soft drinks altogether, and it's not just the addiction saying this, I just...prefer the taste, lol, I drink a lot of water too, but...it's pretty much soda or alcohol, and I think ppl would rather I drank soda (trust me o_O)
