volume problem

hello again,my computer has been playing music very well since i bought it .when i try to open windows media it opens well & shows that it is playing but the sound is not coming out even when the volume is at its maximum.i tried to look for the volume icon but it is not shown on the hidden icons.
please help me because i can not work well without music

Check your sound control panel and make sure the Windows volume isn't all the way down or muted.
Start->Control Panel->Sound and Audio Devices
