Cutting your own hair (guys, obviously)

Anyone do it here? If so, any tips, suggestions?
I have a Wahl clip'n trim set back from when my sister's boyfriend cut my hair for me last year (he did a damn good job too). I usually get a haircut from a relative (who does it for a living) whenever I go home for summer or for the holidays, but it's been about 3 months since my last haircut and I'm looking quite atrocious right now. And since our Student Center charges $20 for the worst haircut you can possibly get (even if you just ask for a trim), and I'm going home in 3 weeks ... I figure that if I can't wait it out, I might as well see what little damage I can do by trying myself. 
Sigh, it was so good to have free/cheap (don't remember which since I never used it) on-site haircuts this summer. Too bad I couldn't bring it to school with me.

mind you, I have ridiculously curly hair, so that may be why I can pretty much just do whatever with it.

I do. But then again, I don't have anything fancy about my hair. Just a #2 blade all around. The hardest part is making the neckline somewhat straight and symmetrical.
Tips? I don't know, take it slow and have a hand mirror.

When I was away at school and was far far away from my regular barber I managed to find a place that did a decent job for something like $6. I'd just say look for something like that, or find someone else to help you out, there is always some girl around that did haircuts for a year or two

Uh wouldn't cutting your own hair be really hard? I mean seriously... I would think that would be extremely difficult. I just got my haircut the other day. The lady that did it cut it way to short and now everyone that comes in contact with me says i look like a lesbian.

I shave my head every morning with a razor at 5:00 AM before going to work and i have no problems with cutting it myself.when i was younger i would fade it up myself i would do a number 1 on the top and on the sides a 0 and fade it up, just be carefull when attempting to cut your own hair.(Paitence is the keyword and you may find yourself working on your hair a lot longer then desired)Lots of light and a descent mirror would make the job easier.Also the best time to cut is when you are feeling gutsy and take your time with it especially since you havent done it before.

I have my sister cut my hair for me. I used to just use a clippers with an attachment to cut it longer. Basically I used to just give myself a simple crew-cut. I debated cutting my own hair with scissors once. Never dared to try though.

I cut my own sometimes and the most difficult thing I had to learn was moving my hands to the desired position. It can be very tricky to find the right angle when looking at your reflection. As Johnny G says..... Patience is the key. Keep in mind, if you dare do it and screw up it will grow back. Continue to cut it yourself and you'll get better. You may spend an hour or more the first few times but I assure you that time will decrease as your skills are refined.

Ok this is what I do. Grab the haircutter with any size clip on it, and shave ur whole head and then ask sumone to line up the back as u please.....E-z as 1 2 3 :]

Do what cavement did - take 2 rocks, and hit them together on your hair until you either get a concussion or your hair gets cut =].

I have cut my own for years.
I use a #2 or #3 and just buzz it all around. They I have an attatchment for cutting around the ears.

I have.. uhh.. some hair left.. it's slowly falling out.. bad genes.. but yeah.. I go about every 3 months.. #2 all around.. $12 and I am done..

I should go every few weeks, but I usually don't get the chance, so my hair fros out, and if it gets big enough I can hide things in it o_O

just let it grow ... like me... then when its long enough you can just trim it up by pulling it all into the front and *snip *snip your done .... who cares if you look like a girl... you can always grow out a beard!!
