fifa 2006 problem

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I can't see the menus in the game, the rest of the grafics work fine, I can even play games and all, but can't see the menus..

Have you updated your videocard driver lately?
Also check for any update patch(es).

Posted by: grubman

I have a laptop IBM T41, with ATI Radeon mobility 7500 with the latest driver, and the demo of the fifa works perfectly...

I tried to install the v1.1 patch but it couldn't install...

Posted by: goranpaa

That game is full of problems. I think the best you can do is contact Electronic Arts support.

Posted by: goranpaa

I found something that might help you?

"Take the chants.big from the fifa06/data folder and put it into the fifa06/data/audio folder works perfectly." After this there is no problem.

Posted by: grubman

the file is already in data/audio... thanks anyway

I have got this problem as well.
Has anyone any solution ?.

Iam running SIS mirage graphics and have updated the driver.

EA support have told me that my graphic card is not upto spec, this does not ring true for two reasons ;
1) My machine runs other high density graphic games without a problem.
2) I installed Fifa 06 on my old machine with an older SIS graphic card with no problem.

I was wondering if overclocking would help ?.

hen they say its not up to spec they are probably not saying it isnt powerful enough, merely that it isnt one of the cards that it actually works for. Most games are designed to work on nearly every card going to some degree, but some are so buggy they will literally only function on specific ranges of graphics cards...

I was looking forward to playing this game, but it sounds a little unstable.

Posted by: goranpaa

Yeah, FIFA 2006 is'nt the most stable game EA have released. I prefer FIFA 2005 over it.

Posted by: Manic Aardvark

This evening I have tried to tweak everything I can think of, reinstalled Direct X, changed the SIS graphic driver and sound driver reistalled Fifa 06 and the available patch and checked that audio file mentioned earlier. No luck, anyone want to buy FIFA 06 hardly used, lol.

Posted by: goranpaa

Are you sure your SIS integrated card is up to that game?

Posted by: Manic Aardvark

Thats the point that troubles me I use this machine because my old machine would not run 'Conflict global storm' happily on an older SIS intergrated graphics card.

That 'older machine' as quite happily took to Fifa.

Unfortunately I cant hve access to both computers easily.

Catch 22.

Posted by: Manic Aardvark

Am I correct in thinking that, if I install a new standalone graphics card more suitable for games such as this, it will supercede the SIS intergrated graphic card but will allow the rest of the board to do its job ?.

Posted by: goranpaa

Yepp! And you will have to disable the SIS integrated in BIOS, after installing a"real" videocard anyway. If not your mobo BIOS does this automatically when inserting a new card that is? Some mobos does it, some dont.

But download this diagnostic software first, and check under "motherboard" and "expansion slots" for a slot called "AGP" (Accelerated Graphics Port).

http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4181.html

If you find that your mobo have an AGP port / slot?

Then this cards are a good choise:

SAPPHIRE 100573L-BK Radeon 9600XT 128MB 128-bit DDR AGP 4X/8X Video Card - Retail $77.00

eVGA 256-A8-N313-LX Geforce FX5500 256MB 128-bit DDR AGP 4X/8X Video Card - Retail $54.00

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...N82E16814130197

If you find that you dont have an AGP port on the mobo?

Then this is a good "PCI videocard", that will fit into any of the free PCI slots on the motherboard. But dont confuse a PCI videocard " with "PCI Express videocards" PCI E, is a completely different interface, that wont fit your mobo.

PNY VCGFX55PPB Geforce FX5500 128MB 128-bit DDR PCI Video Card - Retail $62.00

You see. Integrated videocards is'nt really meant for gaming. It's just a way for the motherboard manufacturers, to provide a cheap graphic soloution, for those who want to build a Workstation PC, where the quality and speed of the graphics is'nt vital.

Or for the PC manufacturers a way to make a PC cheaper. And therefore more attractive price vice for the customers.

Thanks for your advise, much appreciated, I will let you know how I get on.

Posted by: goranpaa

You're welcome.
And if you have any questions or run into any problems? Just give me a howl.

Posted by: Manic Aardvark

Hi again, I have managed to get a fix for this graphics problem, but all is not well.

After a week or two downloading drivers for video, sound & agp port, I decided to look at the motherboard, I tracked down the manufacterers website and downloaded the motherboard drivers for video, sound agp ....

FIFA06 now runs like a dream, at the highest game spec as well, i could hear angels trumpets blowing in my room, until..

I tried to play EA games Medal Of Honour, i got a message stating for system saftey i should only play the game in safe mode. Conflict Global storm crashes after the intro and the gameplay is initialised. EA games Lord Of The Rings will not start at all, but states no device can be found for Direct draw, even though dxdiag says its OK.

ALL theses games where perfect untill my FIFA fix.

Posted by: goranpaa

Maybe you should try to reinstall those games. Just make a back up of your saved games first.

Posted by: Manic Aardvark

Hi again, stupid question for you, my motherboard is a Foxconn 760GXK8MC with the SIS760 chipset.

It states that it as 8 x 1 AGP & 3 X PCI. Iam tracking The PCI card you mentioned above on ebay. But my quetion is would the AGP not be in use by anything else such as the intergrated SIS unit ?.

Posted by: Manic Aardvark

Bought the 'PNY VCGFX55PPB Geforce FX5500 128MB 128-bit DDR PCI' should have it in the next day or two, for now i'll switch drivers for which ever game i am playing.
