No directx compatible graphics

ok also having same problem as others, i try to play sims 2 yet it says i have no directx compatible graphics. i found out my graphics card and it says hpmx 704 CRT monitor on NVIDIA GeFORCE FX5500 so please help!!!! i have also downloaded dirextxc a million times and nothing works!

Uninstall and Reinstall your nVidia drivers, OR update them.
