Hi,

Recently my lapto got infected with the trojan virus trojon.lodear.G virus and all applications started giving error "the memory could not be written error". I could log in the safe mode and did all the steps to remove the virus and cleaned the trojan from my laptop. But still when I log in the normal mode None of the applications work and the program terminates with the Application error for an EXE with the message "Memory could not be written".So now I can not run any application. Please help. I am using Windows XP Professional.I disabled the system restore also and did all the cleaning..but still nothing is working eventhough I can successfully logon in the normal mode.

Ravi

My answer may be a bit dumb but a format and a reinstall of windows would be your best bet for fixing a virus easily..

Are you sure thats what the virus is called, I can't find any info on a trojan.loader.G virus (or trojon.lodear.G for that matter)

Of COurse Yes.The virus is trojan.lodear.G and it has different variants. You can check it at the symantec site. But I have already cleaned the virus and removed all the entries that the Virus creates into the registry. Now I want a solution for this error of "Memory could not be written" as I am not able to use any application.
Thanks.

It sounds like the trojan has broken some Windows functionality, I believe the first thing to try would be a repair install (you should't lose any applications or data) and if this doesn't work it's format and re-install time.

I know you have disabled your system restore, but I did not know if you had disabled permanently or just to fix this issue, if so then try going to a previous restore point that you rememeber was good, you'll be surprised !

If you disable system restore it automatically deletes all previous restore points so I'm afraid you'll be out of luck.
