CAN-NOT OPEN MAC MSN ON MY iBOOK..HEEELP!!

OK I'm new in this Hola! -...btw whats a thread?.....I dont even know if this is the right forum. Anyways heres my issue:
My msn 4 was working fine up till the last couple of months...when I updated the thing it started w/the problems...When I try opening msn 4.1, (I've downloaded the thing from mactopia) on my iBook (OX10.2.8) it won't run! It appears like it opens, it shows on the dock but then it dissapears! WHY?? Beats me! I triedtrashing it, re-downloading ...nothing...I heard about emptying the cache...Can I do that??
Please any of you mac-fans/geeks//amateurs...H E L P...much appreciated !!
PS to Admin: SUGGESTION:You need to add an "Apple" icon
