Ladies' Drinks

Recently I've been told that I drink ladies' drinks. By this I mean things that are fruity or sweet, rather than just beer or scotch. Ive always been one to go for the foofy drinks, anything that sweet and mixed. The site that I use for my drink recipes, www.thebar.com, does not include a search category for gender, so I am wondering if it's real or imagined. What do you think? Are there drinks that are just for the ladies? Any guys out there that drink fancy mixed drinks?

If you are drinking an alcoholic beverage then your objective should be to reach some state of inebriation.
This has nothing to do with the particular flavors of the alcoholic beverage. If you do not wish to taste the alcohol then there are plenty of drinks that cover it well.
If your objective is to reach the maximum desirable state of inebriation as quickly as possible, then your tool of choice ought to be the hardest of liquor.
Most everything else is just societal stupidity and ought to be completely ignored, or at least derisively dismissed.

It depends how you drink the fruity little drink... Don't use a straw and you will be fine. Straws are for pussies. Grab it with 2 hands and chug it, and then present your war cry to show them who's boss. That will show those manly men.

Go for a vanilla vodka and ginger ale. It doesn't look foofy, but is delicious. Especially with a cherry or two.

That stereotype of girls liking fruity drinks and guys who like them aren't "real men" is freakishly common. I have a buddy who loves to drink them for their taste, but he also likes to have an extra shot of liquor with them. The odd thing is that while he ussually gets a hard time about this from friends, he can drink anyone under the table. My advice is to stick with what you like, and if thats a margarita, then more power to ya for actually ENJOYING your alcohol (BTW, it might still be wise to toss the long straw on those drinks, but you certainly don't need to chug them or cry out in self proclaimed victory).

On a side note, I just turned to legal drinking age 3 months ago and I am interested in try out some of the alcoholic drinks. Now don't get me wrong, my intention is not to get drunk, but I'm more interested in their tastes. I would also like to try to mix my own drinks. And with the website, thebar.com as mentioned above, I am be able to find out which alcoholic drinks I need. The problem is there are so many different kind of drinks, I was wondering if any of you experts could give me the name to some of the most common, popular, easy-to-mix (meaning the materials are easy to find) drinks. Thanks.

Nevermind, forget that I asked. Anyways, my personal conception is that drinks that are more mild and sweet in taste are for girls and drinks that are more "spicy", "hard" are for guys. My speculation might be totally off, but just trying to contribute to the thread.

I loathe the taste of alcohol. It has to be a very well mixed drink for me to drink anything other than the worst possible horrible horrors if I'm not planning on reducing myself to gibbering shivers in as short a time as possible.

I haven't tried many mixed drinks.. I just take em straight. I'm not a liquor aficionado, so I have a pretty narrow experience. Maybe a coke and whatever sometimes because I always have soft drinks around.

I tried a Blue Hawaiian once... wasn't so good. But then again, I don't like MaiTais any more than that...

Actually, it wasn't the fruity drinks that spurred the commenting on my drinking habits, it's that I prefer the large chocolate frozen drinks. I didn't think that those counted as ladies drinks. For that matter, I don't particularly care what culture at large things ladies drinks or men's drinks are, I drink what I want. Period. My favorite drink on thebar.com is:
Chocolate Covered Banana
Ingredients
1.25 oz. coconut rum
1/2 sliced banana
1 tbsp. chocolate syrup
.5 cup vanilla ice cream
1 slice banana
................................................................................
Preparation
Add coconut rum, sliced banana, chocolate syrup, and vanilla ice cream in a blender
Blend until smooth and pour into specialty glass
Garnish with banana slice

Baileys After Dark
Ingredients (a la thebar.com)
2 oz. Baileys Irish Cream
1 oz. cappuccino liqueur
2 scoops mint ice cream
****or ice
1 splash cream
1 cherry
................................................................................
Preparation
Add Baileys Irish Cream, cappuccino liqueur, mint ice cream or ice, and cream
Blend and serve in hurricane glass
Garnish with cherry

if you have watched kids in the hall then you should know these are not foofy drinks but rather are "girly man drinks" and must be drunk with a umbrella or a sword with fruit stuck in it.

try chambord vanilla ice cream a shot of vodka and some milk mmmm bluberry ice cream drink.
also grand marnier for a deep orange flavor , godiva liquer for chocolate i could go on forever here, midori for a watermelon flavor (honey dew flavor actually and the flavored stoli is good
malibu, skip the hypnotique though-yucky
