WRONG! ok well on mythbusters and a few other places(ie inked, friends) they "supposedly" proved that its impossible for your stomach hold that much milk, they said your stomach wasnt big enough or something. anyways I SEEN a guy drink 1 gallon of milk in 1 hour. no cheating neither

it depends on your anatomy and such... but yeah... i had 3 friends try this in a challenge and all 3 vomitted. I watched the entire ordeal.. from what i can gather, the last quart is by far the roughest.

I tried this challenge is many forms, I drank a gallon of skim milk, a gallon of Vit D milk, a gallon of egg nog and a gallon chocolate milk, and the only one that stayed down was the chocolate milk. I have a pretty tough stomach though, I have seen dozens of people try this test and fail, so there is a lot of legitimacy to that claim.

it is impossible for your stomach to hold that much milk. however, since milk is 90-odd percent water, your stomach will absorb it rapidly enough that some people could manage a gallon over an hour. rather like the difference between stuffing an entire pie in your mouth at once, and eating one over the course of 15 minutes. time frame is relevant.

I think the big problem is when the milk starts to curdle in your stomach, that is why you won't see someone throw up from chugging a gallon of water.

i am a large guy, just this week i voided 4 lbs in under a minute, i thought i would measure since i had a professional scale at my disposal.

trusting mythbusters as your source for information is surely the surest way to go.

Milk is a bass and your stomach contains acid... So that may have something to do with it...
I always thought of it as nearly impossible, and thats what I have heard...
BUT, here is the real challange: Can you swallow a spoonful of cinnamon. NO! Well... it may be possible, but you better have some water nearby or you're going to chock to death.

fascinating.

Cinnamon is easily swallowed in large quantaties, it's the flour that really chokes you.

They won't give cash for this kind of information.

did the mythbusters in question first have someone drink one gallon of wtaer in a hour, then some other day have same person try to drink 1 gallon of milk?
maybe the milk absorbs the acid and thus expands in the stomach so unless you are a power eater it might not be possible.
Posted by: armystud0911
Technically, the main reason why is that the human stomach cannot hold 1 gallon of liquid, so you have to wait for your stomach to break it down and digest it, this is difficult however, as the acid causes the milk to curdle and you to vomit. Also, your stomach has ph value of about ~3 and cows milk has one of the highest ph values among foods of ~6.5 this means that it brings your stomach's acidic potency down so that it takes longer to digest it. There is a plethera of other reasons that affect this as well, one of them simply being that cow's milk has a lot for your body to absorb and process than many other drinks.

whats so special about cnnamon ?
Posted by: Bishop
It probably has to do with how cinnamon can clump together when wet.
However it's not that big of a deal, but maybe I'm biased as I used to drop cinnamon hits all the time.

If you add some chocolate to it so that it is chocolate milk then I will do it.

I have watched my roomate do that. He also wants to try and drink a gallon of Milk in an hour, because we all say he cant
Posted by: GameMaster
The trick is to not have anything in your stomach when you do it.
Posted by: pdnielsen
I've done it and I have a hiatyl hernia. So what's this about it having to do with stomach size or strength? I think it's having fast kidneys and the time factor that determines whether it can be done.

The difficulty in swallowing cinnamon is most probably due to its exceptional moisture absorption. Without saliva, anyone would have a hard time with even a spoonful of it...
