copy-write protected

hi
i am using 256mb marchi usb drive.When i have to copy any files or try to delete a folder from other disk to usb drive.It will give the error message
"cannot copy-write protected.
remove write protected or use another disk

there is no switce or button on the usb drive ?

I have had the same problem with another make of USB drive. These have a switch, but the switch is off. I haven't been able to sort this out. I think it is a hardware fault. They are fairly cheep these days, so get another one (different make though)

Did you try hooking it up to another computer? I've never used one, but that'd be the first thing I'd try.

Thanks yes i have hooked up to a divrent pc no ...

KESTREL1 "I think it is a hardware fault" i don't know about that did do a check on the net and allot of this is about something to do with windows XP Sp2

I connect different usb pen drives to my work PC, as users want to add things & save to/from their accounts & can't figure out how to do it, so they get me to do it for them.
Anyway, I run Windows XP SP2 & have never had a problem with any of the drives, so I can't see that Windows is your problem. If you try another PC try one that is running Windows 2000 if you can. This will rule out a Windows XP problem.
