Installed wireless router and tivo, now I can't download on my desktop.

I have a desktop and a laptop. I previously had a broadband connection, and recently added a wireless router to it (linksys wireless g). I simultaneously added a tivo along with a wireless adapter. My tivo would not assign a DHCP by itself during setup of the wireless adapter, so I added my IP address for the network manually during setup of the tivo network. I now run the broadband connection into the wireless router, then to my desktop.

Having said all of this, my wirelss network works fine, my tivo can recognize and use the wireless network, and my internet browsing seems to be fine on my desktop. HOWEVER, and here is the question, when I try to download using the bittorrent client or P2P networks, my download rates stay at 0, whereas before they would reach as fast as 250kb/s. Did I disrupt something? Should I be entering a different IP address for the tivo? Does the wireless router disrupt the download speed when connecting it to a desktop?

Thanks so much for any help you can give me, I know I wrote a lot here, but the more I try to inform myself and do this stuff myself, the more of a rabbit hole it becomes.

Michael
