Annoying Problem, Adaware doesn't detect

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hi.

Recently I installed Windows XP and from the day I did this annoying, alternating message has popped up every minute or so, each time displaying something similar to the following:

"We have detected 55 errors in your registry!

To fix, follow these steps:

1. Open internet explorer
2. Type http://www.registrycleanergold.com
3. Download!

Not following those steps may result in system failure"

It's not like a random web advert - it shows up in "메신저 서비스" or Messenger Service, though I'm not sure if that's the exact name that shows up on English Windows.

I checked my Task Manager and Messenger Service shows up as csrss.exe on processes.

Can anyone help me get rid of this? I admit my Windows XP isn't genuine, so I can't get Microsoft Antispyware. I have however tried Adaware and it didn't remove it. When I ran Spybot, it said it encountered an error while removing virus so that it would reload at restart. Unfortunately the annoying message always appears before the Spybot is done rescanning.

Details:
AMD Athlon 900 MHz 256MB RAM
40GB (C Drive
NVIDIA GeForce2 GTS (32.0 Mb): 1024 x 768 - True Color (32 bit)
Creative AudioPCI (ES1371,ES1373) (WDM)
Windows XP Professional Korean 5.1 (build 2600)

Thanks in advance. PM me or answer here, please.

that would be the issue. you need xp sp2. you dont have adware, you have messenger service running. you can disable it if you want to.

How would I get SP2? My Windows is Korean, and all the downloadable SP2s I can find from other places other than Microsoft are for English Windows.

And how do I disable Messenger Service? It comes up as csrss.exe on processes but when I end it, it doesn't end, it just stays there.
