Problem with DVD

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I recently reformatted and reinstalled Windows XP on my Dell 2400. To the best of my knowledge I have loaded all of the drivers. CD's are recognized when I put them in the D drive but today I tried to use a DVD for the first time since reinstalling and the drive does not recognize that it is there. Obviously I've missed something. Can anybody help me?

First. Have you check if the drive is in the device manager? No exclamation mark above it?
If it have, you may need to update the firmware.

Another thing you can try. Is to pull the power for the drive. But unplug first, and remove yourself from static electrisity by grabbing a kitchen sink or water tap.

When you have unplugged the drive. reboot to windows desk. Then shut down and plug in the drive again.

Download a registry repair software.
