Laptop Not Powering up

Hi,
I have a Dell Laptop Latitude D505. This morning I tried to power up and I am not able to do anything. I do not have that much knowledge on Laptops. I did not even switchdown the laptop yesterday night. I generally dont switch down as it goes in standby automatically.
Can you guys please tell me if there is something I can do to power it up. Please let me know if you need any further information.

-what lights if any are lit at the front?
-is the laptop warm/vibrating/whirring quietly?
things you could try straight off,
-try holding down the power button for 6-10 seconds, let go then press it as normal again, see if anything happens
-unplug the power cable, make sure there are o lights showing at the front then remove and reinsert the battery.
