half installed service pack 2

i have downloaded automatically service pack 2 but it only half installed and then corrupted. now it won't install and if i try and remove it from control panel it corrupts and gives up before finishing.
how can i remove the programme and start again as every time i switch on my computer i get a message telling me that i have updates to install and it bothers the hell out of me.
any ideas?

Use a restore point to restore the computer to a time before SP2 was installed.
