Counterstrike Source Problem - Server Crashes My Computer

Hi All,
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Basically, i can load up the game (counterstrike source) ok, but when i try to connect to a server to play it, it gets nearly all of the way through, before my computer completely freezes and crashes on the same bit every time (something about loading client server). Now, i am by no means technically minded, so if anyone has any idea out there on where i am going wrong, it would be great if they could point it out to me!
my laptop meets all of the games requirements to run, and my internet connection is a 1mb unlimited connection.
Please help me!!!!!
