Need help with SBC DSL install

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I recently switched from Charter Pipeline to SBC DSL. Pipeline was working great, just trying to save some cash.

Followed all the DSL installation instruction, but cannot get passed the registration portion of the install.

Called SBC and spoke to a rep. that said it is a browser issue and I should call HP, because I use a HP computer. I haven't called HP, thought someone may have other suggestions.
I get through to all of the SBC help page and their register page, but the rep said because I use Firefox, it is not allowing me to complete the registration, different Java or something.
Cannot reach the same pages using IE 6.0.

Bare with the details, I obviously do not have a internet connection to my computer, so doing this by memory on another computer.

Computer is a HP Pavilion (few years old), running XP Pro.
I am using Mozilla Firefox as a browser.
DSL modem is a Seimen brand, not sure the model.

Any suggestion would be appreciated.

why dont you have an internet connection? the dsl should be working fine if youve paid for it, regardless of their silly registration.

I have installed lots of SBC DSL and have run into many simular problems. Not exactly but, try this:
Make sure that your old charter files are uninstalled and turnoff all firewalls. If you are using SP2 make sure MS firewall in off. Turn off DSL modem and computer. Wait 5 minutes. Turn on DSL modem, wait for all lights to turn green except PC light. Then turn on computer. If dsl light is green then just try to surf the web. If that works then I wouldnt worry about the reg. they are charging you any way. But if not, of if the installer still wants to run then it may be that the installer hasn't sent your log in info to the Modem for storage. Try again to register.

Hope this helps.
Steve
