Just wondering if there is a way to find out what cd key i used for my current installiton of windows xp. I need to do a re-install/format of my hard drive. I still have my store bought windows xp professional edition but i can not fine the orginial product key. Any help would be great. I was told there is a way to go into the system reg files and find the key you orginialy entered but the person that told me that did not know how he just said there is a way so i figured if anyone would be able to tell me it would be you guys.

Download this: http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html
Run it.

Scroll down to the software section and you should see Microsoft Windows XP Professional with the GUID and CD-Key in prenetheise next to it.

Or read this article: http://pcsupport.about.com/cs/pctut...a/lostkey_2.htm

Watch out some of the Jellybean keyfinders (if not all of them) have a virus in the zip, I'd stick with Bellarc as I know this is safe.

I used a Jelly Bean finder before I read this post and it did not contain any virus but it did work great so thanks everybody.
